COMMUNITY

Working together with local churches, the Community Outreach Program, The Parkesburg Point,  and local businesses  is key to our success.

A resident of the Parkesburg community, Judy heads up our dedicated group of volunteers. Like a well oiled machine they unpack, sort, identify and weigh all the food items that come in. They stock the shelves and work with the clients to assure an overall positive experience.

Judy also works directly with the Board of Directors communicating the number of clients served, the amount of food processed and the needs of the operation in general.

OAFC History

2005 - The Octorara Area Food Cupboard began as a mobile food pantry set up in a parking lot and operated by the Chester County Food Bank on a once a month basis serving about 65 people with 1,500 lbs. of food. As the demand for food grew, the mobile pantry moved to a local parish.

2012 - The mobile pantry was serving over 9,000 lbs. of food to over 500 people creating the need for a permanent location. Through a collaborative effort with the Chester County Food Bank, Parkesburg Point Youth Center, local businesses, churches and residents, the newly formed Octorara Area Food Cupboard opened its doors on December 4th 2012.

2016 - The Octorara Area Food Cupboard continues to expand providing supplemental food to over 1,100 people in the greater Octorara area.

We are also supplying more proteins to our clients and special products for school age children, thanks to the Genuardi Foundation.
